We cannot predict when a disaster will strike or how long a crisis will last.

We do, however, know one thing for certain: natural and man-made disasters always impact the most vulnerable. The families who lack access to basic resources like soap and water, people who have been forced from their homes by violence to live in refugee camps, and entire communities that have been destroyed by an earthquake or flood - these are the people who are hit the hardest by disasters and need humanitarian support when the unexpected happens.

With groundwater tainted from the hurricane’s surge and strength, Prosper Global’s emergency response team, together with Mission Resolve, coordinated the deployment of a water treatment and desalination plant from the hull of a barge to a site in Freeport on Grand Bahama Island.

About 7,500 gallons/day of potable water is produced, tested for quality, and distributed to health clinics and members of the community.

Producing fresh water reduces the need for individual plastic bottles and the waste associated with them as well as conserving space and fuel for ongoing rebuilding efforts.
